The fever of the T20 World Cup, which is going to start next month, has risen among the cricket lovers around the world. Many teams have announced their squads. Meanwhile, the BCCI is all set to announce the Indian team for the T20 World Cup on Wednesday at 9 pm.
The announcement will be made by BCCI secretary Jay Shah and selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma. According to the information, the All India Senior Selection Committee will meet on Wednesday to choose the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 to be organized by the BCCI from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. There will be a press conference after the selection meeting.
It is believed that the selectors had already held talks with skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri and another meeting was held on Wednesday morning to finalize the selection. Apart from this, India will also take some additional players as a COVID-19 contingency.
The Chetan Sharma-led selection committee is said to have already decided on the 15-man Indian squad and the announcement was to be made after the fourth Test. But coach Ravi Shastri testing positive for COVID-19 forced him to change plans. Now, the final round of the virtual meeting will take place on Wednesday, in which both Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri will attend the meeting from isolation.
It is being said that in India’s squad, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur or Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal , Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan (wk) or Shreyas Iyer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shikhar Dhawan/Rahul Chahar could be included.
Washington Sundar, Varun Chakraborty, Prithvi Shaw, Deepak Chahar, Famous Krishna can be given place as reserve and injury cover.
