Vietnam’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport has been nominated for the title of “Asia’s leading airport” at the 2026 World Travel Awards, competing against 10 other aviation hubs including Singapore Changi Airport and Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Other nominees are Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, China’s Beijing Capital International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, South Korea’s Incheon International Airport, India’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and Japan’s Narita International Airport.
Public voting is open until Aug. 7, while the awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sept. 27 in the Maldives.
Hong Kong won the title of Asia’s leading airport last year.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, recognize excellence in the travel and tourism industry and are often referred to as the “Oscars of the travel industry.” The annual awards are determined by votes from both travel industry professionals and the public.
Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City handled over 42.4 million passengers last year, marking a 6.3% year-on-year increase, including 17.8 million international travelers.
In recent years, the airport has upgraded infrastructure and improved service quality.
From mid-April, the airport has implemented pre-entry information declarations for international arrivals in an effort to reduce immigration processing time.
