Tata SUV: Tata Motors is preparing a new SUV for the mid-size SUV space, which will directly compete with the segment dominating Hyundai Creta. This model will be the ICE version of the Tata Curvv or will be based on it, which was recently showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. The production-ready version could be given a different name from the Tata Curve, which is expected to be launched by 2024. This new mid-size SUV from Tata will compete with Hyundai Creta as well as Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Highrider and Honda’s upcoming mid-size SUV.
Tata SUV: Till some time ago it was being said in the media reports that in the mid-size segment, the company can bring an SUV named ‘Blackbird’ (Kali Chidiya in Hindi), but now according to new reports it will not be launched. , Tata will launch Curve based SUV to strengthen its hold in the segment. It will be based on Tata’s Generation 2 (aka Sigma) platform. The carmaker has confirmed that the Tata Curvv will be made available with petrol and electric powertrain options. The price of its petrol version can start from around Rs 10 lakh.
At present, its specifications have not been officially revealed but it is believed that Tata’s new SUV may come with a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine. It will be a 3-cylinder unit, capable of generating 125PS of power and 225Nm of torque. The model lineup could come with 6-speed manual and dual-clutch automatic gearboxes. While talking about Tata Curvv electric SUV, it can be offered with 60kWh battery pack and it can give a range of around 500 km.
