Apple scared of China, said – ‘Made in Taiwan’ not label it

New Delhi: The effect of the ongoing tension between China and Taiwan has started showing on the market. Both countries are important for smartphone, laptop and electronics companies. China has been furious due to the recent visit of US Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. China is doing fire drills by siege Taiwan. Due to these reasons, companies may have to face business related problems.

Veteran smartphone maker Apple has asked its suppliers to follow the rules of China. The company has directed strict adherence to Chinese regulations for shipments going from Taiwan to China. On Friday, Apple told its suppliers that China had started enforcing stricter rules on parts made in Taiwan.

‘obey China’s rules’

Sources associated with Nikkei Asia have told that Apple has warned the suppliers about this. The company has said that parts and components traveling from Taiwan to China should be labeled ‘Taiwan, China’ or ‘Chinese Taipei’. The American company has asked the suppliers to show speed in the matter, so that the goods and components do not face any problem during scrutiny.

Will the launch of the iPhone 14 series be stuck?

Actually, this time is very sensitive for Apple. Next month the company is going to launch the iPhone 14 series and other products. In such a situation, any problem means that there will be a delay in shipment and this will have a direct impact on the company’s launch.

If sources are to be believed, any imported declaration form, document or carton with ‘Made in Taiwan’ written on it will make the shipment face Chinese customs checks. There is also a fine of 4000 yuan (about 47 thousand rupees) for violation of such rules. Apart from this, the shipment may also be rejected.

Apple supplier’s shipment held up for review

Apple has given this warning after a shipment was sent for review on Thursday. The shipment of the company’s supplier Pegatron coming from Taiwan was sent to China for review on Thursday. However, Apple has not responded to Nikkei Asia’s questions in this matter. China has been claiming Taiwan for a long time. Recently, the visit of US Speaker Nancy Pelosi was also openly opposed in China.
