The Unified Payment Interface (UPI), the instant payment gateway operated by the National Payments Council of India (NPCI), was shut for over an hour.

Since the UPI server was down, many users started reporting on social media that the UPI server is down and they are unable to do any transaction using digital wallets or online payment services like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. Many users were left wondering if there was really some problem with UPI or it was just a problem on their part.

Some users have also shared screenshots of their failed UPI transactions on social media. One such user has said that he was trying to make payment through Google Pay for a few hours but was not able to do so. However, at 5.18 pm, NPCI has tweeted that, 'Sorry for the inconvenience caused to UPI users due to technical problem. The UPI service is now functional and we are closely monitoring the system.
