The Best 10 Appliances from the Beautiful by Drew Barrymore Line

A little over a year ago is when I was first introduced to Beautiful—the kitchenware line by Drew Barrymore. I was immediately drawn to the aesthetic of the products: simple, modern and usually sold in a variety of colors, most of which are neutral or a trendy colorway.

But I was skeptical of the line’s performance. First, the price point seemed too good to be true (the most expensive appliance in her line is $140!). Second, I am a minimalist—it takes a lot for me to add a gadget or appliance to my kitchen counter. Third, the fact that the brand is backed by a celeb who starred in “E.T.” and a series of rom-coms (that I love, btw, but still…) also gave me pause. Yes, I am openly admitting that I judged a book by its cover.

So, I did what I love doing most: I put the Beautiful line to the test. Over the past year, I’ve worked my way through 16 Beautiful kitchenware products. That’s more than 50% of the line. With every product I tried, I tested it against other leading products in the category. For example, when I tested the air fryer toaster oven, I also tested ones from Breville, Cosori, GreenPan and more.

The testing didn’t stop there. If a product “passed” in the EatingWell test kitchen where it was stacked up against the competition, I took it home and incorporated it into my regular life. My goal was to see if my home cooking life would break the appliance or it would become a dust catcher—both of which would render it unworthy of my recommendation.

After months of testing, there are a handful of Beautiful kitchenware products that I use regularly and (yes, actually) made room for in my kitchen.

The 9-quart capacity of this air fryer allows me to cook a double batch of air-fried vegetables, a full can of cinnamon rolls or an entire meal (thanks to the removable divider). When the divider is in place, you can cook two different foods at two different temperatures. The only drawback is that you have to pull the whole basket out to reach the separate compartments. This air fryer can also roast, broil, dehydrate, bake and reheat leftovers.

When I started using the air fryer at home, I thought it ran a little louder than when I was in the test kitchen. That said, it’s not offensive and wouldn’t wake anyone who’s sleeping. On busy weeknights or weekend mornings, I’ve really appreciated how easy it is to clean the cooking compartment so I can move on to the next activity.

The control panel has bold digital buttons that illuminate only when the air fryer is in use, and the functionality is rather intuitive. This means when the air fryer isn’t in use, it maintains that clean, minimalist look that the Beautiful line is known for.

Overall, the Beautiful air fryer has become a must-have in my kitchen—I use it at least twice a week, often more than that. In fact, I even converted a friend with a similar love of sparse kitchen counters into a regular user of this air fryer.

Capacity: 9 quarts | Dimensions: 11.81”W x 19.7”D x 14.4”H | Wattage: 1,700 watts | Temperature: 90°F to 450°F | Warranty: 2 years

Beautiful by Drew Barrymore Programmable Temperature Kettle

PHOTO: Beautiful by Drew Barrymore

With a sleek exterior and gold accents, the Beautiful by Drew Electric Kettle has all the style Barrymore’s line is known for. It combines form and function with a bold digital readout that illuminates when the unit is in use.

This carafe is generous in its capacity at 1.7 liters and has a lid that flips open a full 90 degrees, which makes it easy to fill and clean. And while it’s plastic on the outside, the interior is stainless steel.

It’s taken the place of my pricier and also-aesthetically-pleasing Fellow kettle on my kitchen counter because of a few key features. I really like having the 60-minute warm-hold function and also the option with a simple touch of a button to heat the water to perfect temperature for white, oolong and green teas, as well as for coffee. Or I can set the temperature I want manually. And, unlike my Fellow kettle, the outside of the carafe doesn’t get hot so I feel much more comfortable with my kids using it.

Capacity: 1.7 liters | Dimensions: 9.21”L x 6.39”W x 10.51”H | Material: Stainless steel, plastic  | Temperature Control: Yes | Warranty: 2 years

Walmart Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 5 Speed Electric Juice Extractor

PHOTO: Walmart

Of all the Beautiful by Drew appliances available, I was certain that I would not keep this juicer. Spoiler: I was wrong. It has actually earned itself a permanent place in my kitchen.

The juicer has five settings so you can juice all types of produce—and I definitely gave it my best shot and threw a wide variety down the chute. I made the most delicious fresh margaritas and barely broke a sweat juicing the limes. I rescued carrots, beets, celery and even some wimpy apples from composting in the produce drawer of my fridge and then let my kids loose on this juicer. Turns out, they’re pretty good mixologists. After all that messy fun, this juicer was a breeze to clean. Getting all the fibrous bits out of the sieve was easy compared to some of the masticating juicers I’ve tested in the past.

Here’s my disclaimer, though: This juicer is great if you’re like me. I am an occasional juicer (I really hate to waste unused produce), but I don’t have to have a cold-pressed (masticating) juicer. This centrifugal juicer is just fine for my purposes. It’s also $79 so I’m ok with it only being used occasionally. If you can relate, this is the juicer for you, but if you are a juicing aficionado, this one might not wow you like it wowed me.

Type: Centrifugal | Dimensions: 16.45”D x 8.42”W x 15.86”H | Wattage: 1,000 watts | Warranty: 2 years

Beautiful by Drew Barrymore Portable To-Go Blender 2.0

PHOTO: Beautiful by Drew Barrymore

Whether you want this blender for its small size or portable nature, it’s a great choice in the world of personal blenders. It’s cute, it’s cordless and, when I tested it, it whirred up a single-serve smoothie and a kale pesto equally as well. Its ability to pull double-duty is how it earned a permanent spot in my kitchen.

The BPA-free cup has a 16-ounce capacity, and once it’s charged, you’ll get several uses out of it. It wasn’t the quietest blender I’ve ever used, but it also wasn’t the loudest. The lid and cup are dishwasher-safe, but you’ll have to handwash the blades (which are built into the base). Keep in mind, like most blenders of this size, adding adequate liquid is key to ensure you get a smooth smoothie.

Capacity: 16 oz. | Dimensions: 3.54″D x 3.54″W x 10.71″H | Wattage: 70 watts | Warranty: 2 years

Beautiful by Drew Barrymore Extra Large Electric Griddle

PHOTO: Walmart

This griddle first appealed to me because of its nice slim profile and smooth grey cooking surface. Most other electric griddles I’ve used have bulky handles and a somewhat gritty black cooking surface. The surface is PFOA/PFAS-free nonstick and, as a result, was very easy to clean.

I found its cooking surface matched the “extra large” descriptor in the product name. For my first foray into cooking on it, I made breakfast and was able to fit nine medium-sized pancakes on the griddle. Next, I made bacon and easily fit eight pieces. With some effort, I made 12 pieces fit without overcrowding. I didn’t find any cold spots on the griddle, and the pancakes cooked evenly.

There’s a gentle slope into the grease trap so neither the pancakes nor the bacon slid on the cooking surface, but the trap collected the bacon grease. As with most electric griddles, this one has an indicator light that illuminates when the griddle is adjusting temperature and turns off when the griddle has reached the desired temperature. The handles are long and slim, which could be problematic for larger hands, but they stayed cool to the touch when the griddle was on.

Dimensions: 23.62”L x 4.33”W x 2.00”H | Wattage: 1,500 watts | Material: PFOA/PFOS-free non-stick coating | Warranty: 2 years

Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 6 QT Enamel Dutch Oven

PHOTO: Walmart

It’s not easy to find a budget-friendly cast iron Dutch oven that’s coated in enamel, but Drew Barrymore made it happen—and it performs beautifully (pun intended!). When I put this Dutch oven to the test with skin-on chicken thighs, I found that the chicken browned consistently to a lovely golden color. There was some sticking, but I appreciated that fond and additional flavor. Afterward, the pan was easy to clean with minimal elbow grease, but it’s worth noting another tester found that the matte-like exterior coating can stain.

I found the size of this Dutch oven perfect for my family of three. I was able to cook four chicken thighs easily. It’s a great size for a couple or a small family. Be sure to use wooden or silicone utensils and not metal as they may scratch the interior coating.

Capacity: 6 quarts | Weight: 12 pounds | Material: Enameled cast iron | Induction Compatible: Yes | Oven Safe: Yes, up to 500°F | Dishwasher Safe: N/A | Warranty: Lifetime

Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 1.5 Quart Ice Cream Maker with Touch Activated Display

PHOTO: Walmart

If you’ve never used an ice cream maker before, you can probably still figure out how to run this one without reading the manual. The pieces go together intuitively, and the control panel is fairly straightforward. Toggle between the three different settings—ice cream, sorbet, gelato—and there’s a pre-set time for each category. You can also add time to the churn, if desired, but you can’t deduct from the pre-set times.

I appreciated the smaller footprint of this ice cream maker. It’s fairly light and easy to maneuver and take in and out of storage. The cord is a little short compared to other ice cream makers, but that doesn’t inhibit its useability.

Disclaimer: It runs a little loud and only the mixing paddle is dishwasher safe. But it churns out ice cream in a timely fashion and the consistency of it is as you would expect.

This ice cream maker is great for my family. It’s easy for my kids to use and it comes in fun pastel colors, unlike most other ice cream makers on the market.

Capacity: 1.5 quarts | Dimensions: 8.26”L x 8.97”W x 8.97”H | Weight: 7 pounds | Warranty: 2 years

Beautiful by Drew Barrymore Hot Air Popcorn Maker

PHOTO: Beautiful by Drew Barrymore

Popcorn is popular in my house! In fact, it’s more likely to be requested for an after-school snack than it is for movie night. As much as I love the convenience of a microwave bag, I have mixed feelings about them and their added ingredients. So, as a mom, I was excited to unbox this popcorn maker.

Here’s what I like: It’s lightweight and easy to store. It’s small enough that I can house it in one of my shallow cabinets, and the cord wrap keeps things tidy. Its operation is intuitive, and it comes with a built-in measuring cup for kernels. The chute feature can get messy—sending random popped and unpopped kernels flying—but the final popped product was light, airy and unburned.

Type: Electric | Capacity: 16 cups | Dimensions: 5.51”L x 7.48”W x 12.20”H | Material: Plastic | Dishwasher-safe: No | Warranty: 2 years

Walmart Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 2-Speed Immersion Blender

PHOTO: Walmart

One of my favorite things about this immersion blender is that its two speeds can be controlled with a single finger. That means I don’t have to let go of the bowl or soup pot while toggling between speeds, and I’m far less likely to make a mess trying to work the blender one-handed. Other perks are its light weight and generous 5-foot cord.

Be aware that its design isn’t very conducive to small ingredient quantities. During testing, for instance, it didn’t perform all that well making a one-egg aioli. But it pureed a soup seamlessly. Another factor in its design is the housing around the blade—it’s metal so it shouldn’t be used on nonstick or other cookware that can be damaged by metal kitchen utensils.

Type: Corded Electric | Weight:  1.56 lbs. | Wattage: 400 watts  | Accessories: Blending cup, whisk, 16-oz. Chopper | Warranty: 2 years

Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 10-in-1 6qt Electric Multi-Cooker

One feature that really makes this multi-cooker stand out is the cast aluminum pot that you insert into the cooker base is oven safe up to 400℉. The pot is ceramic coated and is PFAS, PFOA, PTFE, cadmium and lead-free.

Because it’s a multi-cooker, there’s so much you can do with this appliance: saute, sear, slow cook, cook rice, braise, simmer and steam. And it could replace a handful of other appliances in your kitchen. Don’t worry—the instruction manual is especially helpful for working through all of your cooking options.

Unlike the slow cooker, this multi-cooker didn’t run hot. Instead, pork came out fork tender and soup was just right. Really, the only drawback I found is the opaque lid, which meant I needed to remove it to see what was inside the pot.

Capacity: 6-quart | Dimensions: 8.66L x 14.57W x 12.20H Inches | Weight: 4 pounds | Dishwasher-safe: Yes | Warranty: 2 years

Other Beautiful by Drew Products I Tested (And Didn’t Keep)

Beautiful by Drew 14-Cup Programmable Touchscreen Coffee Maker ($59 at Walmart): This coffee maker is much prettier than what I currently have on my kitchen counter. It also made excellent coffee. In fact, I found it brewed a better cup than some other well-known, pricier brands. But ultimately, I found the control panel not as intuitive as other Beautiful products and the buttons were poorly lit.

Beautiful by Drew 12-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Block Set ($49 at Walmart): The slim profile of this knife block means it doesn’t take up much counter space, which I am a fan of. While the knives felt secure in my hand, they didn’t slice through dense produce with the ease that I wanted them to. The included pieces weren’t ideal, either: It has one chef’s knife, two serrated knives, a paring knife, kitchen shears and a set of six steak knives.

Beautiful by Drew Digital Air Fry Toaster Oven ($99 at Walmart): This air fryer toaster performed well when I made cheesy bread and muffins and even when I roasted salmon filets. It’s low profile was a nice contrast compared to many other air fryer toaster ovens on the market. But I found the toasting rack to be flimsy and it tipped if I didn’t use two hands—and that’s a problem for a multi-tasking cook like me.

Beautiful Easy-Prep Electric Can Opener ($22 at Walmart): The small touches and gold accent finishes set this electric can opener apart from others. The can opener part is easy to use and this mini appliance also features a cord storage compartment, a built-in knife sharpener and bottle opener. But it was a colleague, Katie Tuttle, who really put this can opener to the test and here’s what she said about why it didn’t earn a spot in her kitchen: “The finishes, while pretty, don’t fool anyone on closer inspection—this machine is mainly made of plastic, whereas other models in a comparable price range feature more stainless steel. I ultimately put it away and kept one that had more real metal pieces and fit my decor better,” says Tuttle.

Beautiful 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker ($69 at Walmart): Between the 6-quart capacity and the oval shape of the crock (which is the most versatile of shapes), you should be able to cook any recipe in this slow cooker. In fact, when my colleague Carolyn Malcoun tested this slow cooker she said “I could have fit an entire chicken in this slow cooker—no problem.” Unfortunately, though, she found the slow cooker ran a little hot, overcooking beans and burning a pork glaze.

Beautiful High Performance Touchscreen Blender ($29 at Walmart): I make a smoothie every weekday morning for my kids so I lined this blender up alongside my go-tos at home: a Ninja and Vitamix. I found it to be loud at high speed, but at a lower speed more tolerable than my other two blenders. It’s performance was pretty good and the control panel was easy to use. That being said, I really love my Ninja and so although I kept this blender, it isn’t one I use every day.

The Bottom Line: The Best Beautiful by Drew Appliance

Every kitchenware product of Drew Barrymore’s Beautiful line wins serious points with me for aesthetic. The looks alone make them worthy of a permanent place on my kitchen counters.

That being said, the functionality of some surpass others. I would prefer to not live without the Beautiful 9-Quart TriZone Air Fryer. I use it multiple times a week and I’ve taught my kids how to use it. The Beautiful 1.7-Liter Electric Kettle and Beautiful 5-Speed Electric Juice Extractor are the two other appliances that get the most use in my house.

But every household is different and every home cook has their must-haves. So, generally speaking my take on the entire Beautiful by Drew kitchenware line is that it’s a great value for what you get.
