The health directory of the elderly being prepared here will be implemented across the state…

Bhopal:- Madhya Pradesh Health Department is preparing a blueprint to take care of the health of the elderly across the state including the capital Bhopal. This will reveal how many elderly people are there in the state, which diseases they suffer from most and what problems they have to face etc. For this, the Health Department is making a health directory of the elderly. It will contain all the information related to the health of the elderly.

Starting from Bhopal
This initiative has been started from Arogyashala located in Panchsheel Nagar, Bhopal. After this it will be started across the state. In fact, in old age a person is generally surrounded by many diseases. Moreover, most of the old age homes do not have permanent treatment facilities for the elderly. Many times, due to lack of specialist treatment, their health deteriorates further. In such a situation, all the information about the elderly will be available to the department through this directory. Let us tell you that the Central Government had also announced that elderly people above 70 years of age will be covered under the Ayushman Scheme.

Pattern of diseases will be known
Through this directory, we will know what is the pattern of diseases occurring in the elderly? What type of infection occurs where the elderly live? What kind of problems do they face more? On the basis of this, arrangements for health facilities for the elderly can be made in the geriatric wards of hospitals across the state.

Eight percent elderly population in Madhya Pradesh
According to Census 2011, the population above 60 years of age in Madhya Pradesh was about eight percent. That means the number of elderly people in the state was 57 lakh. This constituted 8.6 percent of the elderly population in the country.
