The mega auctions for IPL 2025 are scheduled for Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This much awaited event will be from this Sunday until the next Monday with a large number of players (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) going under the auction due to a total of 1,574 players. A detail that emerged production of the auction or rather a report has left a shocker that Indian cricketer and all rounder Deepak Hooda who played for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024 has been put in the list of suspected bowlers in BCCI and cannot bowl in the near future.
As per Cricbuzz report, BCCI has also put under suspicion Deepak Hooda, Saurabh Dubey and KC Cariappa and their illegal bowling action.
In a report published by Cricbuzz, it was stated that “Manish Pandey (KSCA, 157) and Shrijith Krishnan (KSCA, 281) have been banned from bowling while Deepak Hooda, an off-spinner from Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), is in the suspect bowling list and Saurabh Dubey (344, VCA) and KC Cariappa (381, CAM) are also in the suspect list”.
Hooda was let go by the LSG franchise before the auctions commenced. He had a very tepid season in IPL 2024, managing just 145 runs across 11 games without taking any wickets.
Focusing on his international career, Deepak Hooda took the field in 10 ODIs for the men in blue and made 153 runs. He featured in 21 T20I’s where he scored 368 runs including one century.
BCCI’s management has not allowed him to make any international appearance since he played in the T20I against New Zealand held in February 2023 when he scored 30 runs.
Speaking of which IPL, the same report has added that the next season will take place between 14th March to 25th May.
The BCCI further communicated that the two-day mega players’ auction will also see the inclusion of Jofra Archer, who is injury-prone England fast bowler, the Indian-born American fast bowler named Saurabh Netravalkar and uncapped Mumbai-wicketkeeper-batter Hardik Tamore.
Considering this, in its letter to the franchises, the Board says ‘the players’ auction is being conducted for the next three seasons, and therefore, the schedule is being shared in one go to assist the franchises in planning for the players’ auction’ After this, the 2026 tournament edition will commence on 15th march and the last match will be played on 31st may.
In the 2027 tournament edition, the tournament will again begin on March 14 and conclude with the final on May 30. All the three finals will be played on Sundays.
