This Carabian legend joins KKR as a mentor for IPL 2025

In a recent announcement, the Kolkata Knight Riders, the most awaited 2024 IPL team, confirmed the appointment of Dwayne Bravo as a team’s mentor. The announcement came from the franchise in an official release on Friday, September 27 and confirmed the same adding that he will also be associated with the Grand group and its other franchises across the globe including CPL, MLC, and ILT20.

After serving in the Bowling coach role in Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2024, the 40-year-old Bravo will now replace Indian stars head coach Gautam Gambhir in the role of the KKR mentor. Gambhir had rejoined KKR as a mentor last year and in his first year there helped them win the title, having previously captained the franchise to the IPL title in 2012 and 2014. After a successful spell with the KKR owned by the actor even from the team management, the ex-batter returned the favor and took up the role of head coach for the Indian men’s cricket team.

The news of DJ Bravo joining us is a rather pleasant one. The combination of his never say die attitude and attitude will help our franchise and boys massively. We are also glad that Bravo is going to be part of our other franchises worldwide like CPL, MLC, and ILT20.”, said Knight Riders group chief executive officer Venky Mysore in a media statement.

“I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. I have great respect for the Knight Riders’ organization having played for and against them in different leagues. The love and passion of the owners, the management’s professionalism, and the warm culture of the organization make it great. I am glad this is the right avenue for me as I am now moving from playing to mentoring and training the young ones,” Bravo stated after being appointed.

In Indian Premier League, Bravo made his mark in Mumbai Indians from 2008 to 2010 and Gujarat Lions in 2016, apart from being a part of MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings.

He leads the list for most number of batters bowled out in T20. His club career spanned 582 matches when he was associated with more than a dozen clubs and he bowled out 631 batters.

To add, he is a member of West Indies men’s cricket team which clinched the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup twice in 2012 and 2016 under Daren Sammy’s captaincy.
