This Indian legend is struggling in the nets ahead of the Kanpur test, Big worry for team India

The prominent cricketer of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli, had a tough time on the first Test match against Bangladesh held in Chennai. Kohli scored 6 and 17 runs respectively after he was dismissed by Hasan Mahmud in the first innings and by Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the second. The batter faces a test once more in the second Test match at Kanpur, but suffered a major goof up in the training session before the match. As reported by Indian Express, when facing pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the nets he faced 15 balls, and was ‘out’ four times. The fourth ball from Bumrah had hit his legs and Bumrah declared, “saamne laga hai’ (plumb), which Kohli accepted.

Two balls later, after Kohli pushed out too far and chased a ball outside off-stump, he got an outside edge and a fast bowler who was snappy and also very clever bowled him down twice in succession with the ball turning away to middle and leg.

“The last one was a very simple catch for short leg,” Bumrah added.

Kohli had to go to another net on a different side where spin bowling was being done by Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin but he was still unable to find batting rhythm.

Kohli attempted to counter Jadeja, but on three occasions the talented batter completely missed the ball while trying to execute an inside-out shot. The article also noted that this really left Kohli ‘pissed’.

Nonetheless, the situation took a turn for the worse, as he was hit on the pads and eliminated on Axar’s delivery which completely dismantled his defence. This marked the end of nets for Kohli as he made room for Shubman Gill.

To add to the concerns expressed by Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, the absence of notable names such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the recently completed Duleep Trophy was detrimental to Indian cricket and themselves.

The tournament for Duleep Trophy ended with India A emerging champions. Some of the international Indian players who took part in the tournament included Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and others. Nevertheless, the tournament showed no participation from both Rohit and Virat.

During the Test series in Chennai against Bangladesh which was Rohit’s first test in five months and Virat’s in eight months, both players rang rustiness was quite visible due to their low scores in the match. The Hitman raised his bat to score five and six in each inning while Virat’s innings were spoilt with six and 17 runs respectively.
