The Indian Embassy in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, will reopen, temporarily based in Poland.

The Indian embassy in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, had to be closed due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. But now the Indian embassy will resume its work in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, meanwhile the Indian embassy was temporarily operating from Poland. The Indian government had earlier said that the Indian embassy had been relocated to Poland. A few days later, the embassy issued a 24-hour WhatsApp helpline number for its citizens in war-torn Ukraine to help with the new advisory.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told Parliament that the Indian Embassy in Ukraine launched a registration drive for Indians in January 2022 and about 20,000 Indians had registered under it.

“Most of the Indian nationals were students studying medicine at Ukrainian universities,” he said. Jaishankar also said that 147 people from 18 countries were also evacuated from Ukraine and brought to India under Operation Ganga.
