A 13-year-old girl was gang-raped twice in five days in Umaria in Madhya Pradesh, a disgusting crime when the Shivraj Singh Chauhan government is running a public awareness campaign about crime against women across the state. In the last six days, at least four heinous incidents of crime against women in different parts of the state have once raised big questions about the safety of women. On January 4, a 13-year-old girl was kidnapped in Umaria by her acquaintance, then raped her for six days with her six friends.
Before releasing the victim on January 5, he threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it. On 11 January, an accused involved in the first incident abducted her again, kept her in a roadside dhaba where she was then raped by 3 people. Police was informed about the matter, after which several police teams searched. Umaria Police PRO Arvind Tiwari said that ‘We have arrested 6 accused so far, and the remaining accused in the case are expected to be arrested soon. This case is registered under the relevant sections of POSCO and IPC.
