Karuppu brings Suriya back together with Trisha for the first time after 2005’s Aaru. The film also stars Indrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi, among others. Suriya stars as the titular guardian deity, who assumes the form of a lawyer after a devotee in distress, pleads for justice.
Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu released on May 15 after a one-day delay due to financial hurdles. Despite receiving mixed reviews initially, the fantasy drama has found strong audience support in theatres and online, helping it cross the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide.
