Video: Karan Johar left ‘shocked’ as IIFA honours his 25-year journey in industry; Touches Shah Rukh Khan’s feet after receiving the award

Karan Johar was caught off guard when he received an honor at IIFA 2024, with Shah Rukh Khan presenting him the award.






The IIFA 2024 awards commenced on September 27 and are taking place in Abu Dhabi over three days. Needless to say, it is a star-studded event, with actors and directors like Shah Rukh Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Karan Johar, and others in attendance. As the event progressed, there was a memorable moment when Karan Johar appeared visibly shocked after being honoured for his contributions to the Indian film industry. The director was presented with a special award that celebrated his journey in the film industry so far.

“Today, IIFA honours Karan Johar for completing 25 years in the Indian film industry and creating a legacy for the ages,” announced Vicky Kaushal. The award was presented to Karan by none other than Shah Rukh Khan himself. Upon hearing his name, Karan was completely taken aback but managed to make his way to the stage. In a surprising gesture, Karan touched Shah Rukh’s feet before accepting the award.

Karan Johar began his career in 1998 with the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which was a major hit and earned a National Award. Since then, Karan has directed several successful films, including Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan, Student of the Year, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. His latest release, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, hit theaters in 2023.

Karan has been selective about the projects he takes on. In addition to directing, he has worked as a producer and distributor. Karan co-produced Vicky Kaushal’s Badhaai Do this year, which was a massive success. Interestingly, Karan Johar is also the Hindi distributor for Devara, starring Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. Karan Johar also co-produced Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film Jigra. The movie also featured Vedang Raina.
