Son Tung unveiled the official cover art for the upcoming track, titled “Come My Way,” on Saturday night.
A representative for the singer stated that despite this being their first time working together, the two artists connected naturally. The agency views the collaboration as a strategic next step in Son Tung’s ongoing international expansion.
This marks the second time Son Tung has collaborated with a major American artist, following his massive 2019 hit “Hay Trao Cho Anh” (Give It to Me) featuring Snoop Dogg.
The announcement of his musical comeback has generated massive online buzz. In mid-May, Son Tung posted a series of cryptic posters featuring the song’s initials, which quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of interactions across social media.
On May 19, he released a video teaser featuring dancers in a traditional, mysterious setting. The clip garnered nearly two million views in just four days.
“Come My Way” is scheduled to be released globally on May 28 across YouTube and major digital music platforms.
Born Nguyen Thanh Tung in 1994, Son Tung M-TP launched his singing career in August 2011 with the breakout track “Con Mua Ngang Qua” (A Passing Rain). A year later, he graduated as valedictorian from the HCMC Conservatory of Music.
He has since solidified his status as a V-pop icon with a string of hits, including “Lac Troi” (Drifting), “Chung Ta Khong Thuoc Ve Nhau” (We Don’t Belong Together), and his most recent release, 2024’s “Dung Lam Trai Tim Anh Dau” (Don’t Break My Heart).
Throughout his career, he has accumulated numerous accolades, including Best Southeast Asian Act at the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards. He also holds the distinction of being the first Vietnamese artist to reach 10 million YouTube subscribers and has surpassed 810 million streams on Spotify.
Tyga, born Michael Ray Stevenson in 1989, is a prominent American rapper of Jamaican and Vietnamese descent. Since launching his music career in 2007, he has become famous for global hits like “Taste,” “Ayo,” “Rack City,” and “The Motto.”
He has a long history of collaborating with industry heavyweights, including Drake, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne. In 2018, his hit single “Taste,” featuring rapper Offset, peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and has since accumulated over 1.7 billion views on YouTube.
The upcoming track with Son Tung will not be Tyga’s first connection to the Vietnamese music scene; he previously collaborated with Vietnamese rapper Phao on a popular remix of her viral hit song “Hai Phut Hon” (Over 2 Minutes).
