Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting in London… Europe discusses peace, drone attacks continue in Russia-Ukraine
Russia Ukraine Drone Attacks: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has held an important meeting with the leaders of France, Germany and Britain in London towards ending the Russia-Ukraine war. This meeting has taken place at a time when the discussion on America’s peace plan is progressing rapidly and the entire incident is being described as a turning point. The main purpose of the meeting was to strengthen Ukraine’s position and to consider the contribution of European countries to the proposed peace plan, although differences still remained on a number of issues.
Meeting with European leaders at 10 Downing Street
Ukrainian President Zelensky met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at 10 Downing Street (UK Prime Minister’s Office). The purpose of this meeting was to strengthen Ukraine’s position. British PM Starmer made clear he would not pressure Zelensky into a deal, highlighting European support for Ukraine’s sovereignty.
The biggest controversial issue is whether Ukraine will have to hand over part of the Donbass region to Russia. The French Presidential Office has described this meeting as important to discuss America’s peace plan and decide the European contribution.
Emphasis on differences and security guarantees
British PM Starmer’s spokesperson said that even though talks have reached this level in four years, the path to peace is not straight and there are still differences on many issues. Starmer stressed that any agreement must be fair and sustainable. Meanwhile, European countries are also insisting that if there is a ceasefire, Ukraine should get strong security guarantees, so that there are no new attacks from Russia in future. Zelensky said that Ukraine needs the support of both Europe and America because the country cannot take some decisions alone.
Ukraine and Russia both affected by drone attacks
Amid peace discussions, claims of drone attacks are being made by both Russia and Ukraine. Drone strikes on Monday night damaged buildings and infrastructure in several Ukrainian cities, including Okhtyrka and Chernihiv, and injured several people.

The Ukrainian Air Force claimed that they neutralized 131 of the 149 drones shot down by Russia overnight. At the same time, Russia’s Defense Ministry also claimed that their air defense systems destroyed 67 Ukrainian drones in 11 Russian territories overnight. These attacks show that despite diplomatic discussions, conflict continues on the ground.
