‘We will obey the government’, says PCB chief Najam Sethi on Pakistan touring India for World Cup 2023

Meanwhile, the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Najam Sethi, who recently took charge of the Pakistan Cricket Board in place of Rameez Raja, has given a big statement on this issue, saying that he will not take any decision on this issue without consulting the country’s national government.

Newly-elected PCB chairman Najam Sethi was quoted by India TV as saying, “We will follow whatever the government of the country suggests to us and we will consult the government when the time comes.” As I have followed it while holding the post of the first president.

Najam Sethi further said, ‘And as far as Asia Cup 2023 is concerned, I will go to the Asian Cricket Council and see what the situation is and we will take a decision in the best interest of the game. During this we have to see what is the position of other cricket boards at that time. We have to play cricket with everyone and we will not take any step which will lead to isolation.

Let us tell you that the issue of Asia Cup 2023 was heated when the Secretary of the Board of Cricket in India, Jai Shah, who is also the President of the Asian Cricket Council, had said that the Asia Cup 2023 will be held at a neutral place and India will not tour Pakistan for this.

At the same time, in response to this, former PCB chief Rameez Raja said that if India does not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup and if Pakistan is stripped of the hosting rights of the Asia Cup, then the Pakistan cricket team will boycott the World Cup to be held in India.
