TWhat IS Pre Seeding In 20 World Cup 2026: The Super-8 matches of T-20 World Cup 2026 are going to start from 21st February. The first match will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand. But before this there was a lot of controversy regarding pre-seeding. Yes, ICC is being heavily criticized for pre-seeding. It is being told that due to this the Indian cricket team may have to suffer losses. So let us tell you in this article what is pre-seeding? How can this harm Team India?

Ruckus over pre-seeding

This time 20 teams took part in the T20 World Cup 2026, which were divided into 4 groups. The top-2 teams of each group have qualified for the Super-8. Under pre-seeding, ICC had fixed the slots of the top ranked teams even before the start of the tournament. Which were named A1, B1, C1, and D1. Because of this, all those teams which remained on top in their group have come to the Super-8 group of India. All those teams got places in the second group.

2 best teams will be eliminated before the semi-finals

The biggest loss that India will face due to pre-seeding is that now the two best performing teams in the first round will be out of the tournament. On the other hand, the team which would have finished second in its group has a golden opportunity to reach the last 4. In this context, there are going to be two teams in the semi-finals which stood second in their group. This means that the top two teams have not got the advantage of winning all the matches but have suffered a loss.
