Why and in whose memory we celebrated National Education Day Today

Today, National Education Day is being celebrated in the country. Let us know that in the memory of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of India, the country celebrates National Education Day on November 11. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) announced on September 11, 2008, that Abul Kalam Azad has contributed to the field of education in India, so by remembering him, the birthday of this great son of India will be celebrated as Education Day.

Why and in whose memory we celebrated National Education Day Today

Please tell that Abul Kalam served as the first Education Minister of independent India from 1947 to 1958. He believed that primary education should be imparted in the mother tongue. He not only emphasized the education of women, but he also advocated free universal primary education as well as vocational training and technical education for all children till the age of 14 years.

Maulana Azad was a prominent journalist of his time and also became the cause of the Indian nationalist movement. He understood the connection between education and development of the nation. All this happened under Azad’s leadership. Also in 1949, in the Central Assembly, he emphasized the importance of modern science. To increase the level of education, Maulana had established many schools, colleges and universities.

Apart from this, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was responsible for the establishment of higher bodies like AICTE and UGC. Apart from this, IIT, IISc and School of Architecture and Planning were also founded by him.
