Tourism journey from 1980 till now

If we talk about the beginning or journey of Tourism Day in the world, World Tourism Day is being celebrated every year on 27th September since 1980. This date was specifically chosen to celebrate the anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Tourism Act. If we talk about earlier times, the concept of making a law on tourism was done on September 27, 1970.

These laws are considered a milestone in global tourism. The day also marks the end of high season in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of high season in the Southern Hemisphere. In October 1997, the UN WTO General Assembly decided to nominate one host country each year to act as the United Nations partner in the celebration of World Tourism Day. Since then, every year a country is chosen as the host. This year, Georgia has been kept as the host country for 2024.

The theme changes every year

This World Tourism Day, we are reflecting on the deep connection between tourism and peace. This time it will happen that the level of tourism will increase and the level of employment will also increase.

Talking on the basis of theme, the aim is to enhance the importance of cultural and natural heritage in the field of tourism while preserving it. If we talk about tourist places around the world, the names of Eiffel Tower Paris, Buckingham Palace London, Statue of Liberty New York, Machu Picchu Peru, Burj Khalifa Dubai come first and everyone likes to go here.
