Yogi Minister Gets One Year Jail: One year jail to the minister in the Yogi government; Know what is the matter

One year jail to Yogi government minister: A minister of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh has been sentenced to one year in jail. The APMLA court has given a big blow to Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, a minister in the government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Nand was convicted in a case related to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He was convicted in this case and sentenced to one year imprisonment. A fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed. The minister has been convicted under sections 147 and 323 of the IPC.

What is the matter after all?

During the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, Nandi attacked the meeting of the then Samajwadi Party MP Revati Raman Singh through his supporters. Caste words were also used to target Samajwadi Party supporters. It has been claimed that many supporters of Samajwadi Party were beaten up in this attack and in the charge sheet presented before the court, it was said that many people were injured in this attack.

Nandi was in Congress then

Interestingly, Nandi was in the Congress party when all this happened. The Samajwadi Party filed a police complaint against Nandi. Nandi has now been convicted in the same case after 9 years. He has been sentenced to one year in jail. Along with this, a fine of ten thousand rupees will also be charged from them. In this case, Samajwadi Party worker Venkataraman Shukla lodged a police complaint against Nandi.

…so the membership of the assembly was not canceled

Although Nandi was sentenced to one year in prison, his membership in the Legislative Assembly would not be revoked. According to the rules of cancellation of membership, membership is canceled if the minimum punishment is more than two to four years. There is talk in local political circles that Nandi was given a one-year sentence as a reprieve for his membership as there was no threat to his membership. No comment has yet come from Nandi on this decision of the court. BJP has also not given any reaction regarding this matter. Also, no response has been recorded from the Congress or the opposition parties.
