‘Young Dumb and Broke’ singer Khalid comes out as gay after being outed on social media- The Week
American singer and songwriter Khalid has come out as gay on X (formerly Twitter). The announcement comes after the Young Dumb and Broke singer had been outed on social media.
Khalid shared a tweet where he simply posted the rainbow flag – a representation for the LGBTQIA community, and added, “there yall go. next topic please lol”.
Netizen took to the comments to share their support for the Lovely singer. “I just hate that you didn’t announce it. Exposing is never cute, at all,” one user wrote, while another replied, “sorry you couldnt come out on your own terms we love u!”
Khalid followed the announcement with a series of tweets, confirming his sexuality as ‘gay’. He further went on to say that he is not ashamed his sexual orientation, and that “it ain’t nobodies business”.
He also retweeted many comments claiming that they already knew he was gay.

Khalid Donnel Robinson, 26, is an American R&B artist, who stepped into the music industry in 2016, at just 18-years-old. His debut single titled Location reached No. 21 in the US Billboard Hot 100 list. The song was featured in his album American Teen, along with his second single Young Dumb and Broke, which placed at No. 18 in the Billboard Hot 100 list.
He released two more albums – Free Spirit (2019) and Sincere (2024) – both making it into the Billboard 200 list. Khalid collaborated with singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran for the song Beautiful People, which reached No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart in July 2019.
Khalid has six Grammy nominations and five Billboard Music Awards wins. The singer has collaborated with many other music artists like Marshmello, Alicia Key, Billie Eilish, Benny Blanco, Halsey, Normani, TY Dolla Sign, Lorde, SZA, Post Malone and Logic.
