State Bank of India has warned its customers against fake messages with income tax refund. The bank has asked the account holders not to give their confidential information on any such email, message or link. The bank says that if the account holders do not take care about such messages, then their account deposits can be in danger.
The bank gave information about this in a tweet. In his tweet, Beck said, “Have you received any formal request from the Income Tax Department for a refund? Such messages are the ways of fraudsters. To ignore such messages and inform them immediately. ‘
The bank has also posted a short animated video to reveal how to ask for information on income tact refund through any suspicious email, SMS or any other type of communication. It has asked the account holders to be alert to click on any such link.
It states that clicking the link sent in the fraudulent messages will take you to another website. Here, fraudsters can steal your ID, password or other information from you. Through this information, they can infiltrate your bank deposits.
On behalf of the bank, it was said that this is nothing but a kind of phishing where you are asked to share your confidential information on a fake website which looks absolutely real. SBI has instructed not to click on any such suspicious links. Apart from this, no one is forbidden to share any personal information.
The bank says that if anyone receives such a suspicious message, the bank should be informed about it. It may be noted that recently such a warning was issued by the Income Tax Department, stating that taxpayers should beware of fake messages of tax refunds.
