US President Donald Trump’s claim rejected, war continues between Thailand and Cambodia
New Delhi. Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has said that military operations against Cambodia will continue. US President Donald Trump had earlier claimed that a ceasefire had been reached between the two neighboring countries. In a Facebook post on Saturday morning, Anutin said Thailand would continue military action until the threat to its territory and civilians is eliminated. Thailand will continue to take military action until we feel no further harm and threat to our land and people.

Anutin said the statement came after Cambodia’s new allegations despite Trump’s announcement that Bangkok and Phnom Penh had agreed to end hostilities. The Thai military continues air and ground attacks. Cambodian officials alleged that attacks continued hours after a claimed ceasefire, Al Jazeera reported. On Saturday, the Thai military, using two F-16 fighter planes, dropped seven bombs on several targets inside Cambodian territory, according to a social media post by Cambodia’s Defense Ministry. The ministry further said that the Thai military has not yet stopped the bombing and is still continuing the bombing. Al Jazeera reported the attacks on villages and settlements were listed as of 8 a.m. local time on Saturday. Local outlet The Khmer Times quoted Cambodia’s information ministry as saying that two hotels were attacked in the Thmor Da area of Pursat province near the Thai border. Photos published by the outlet showed hotel and casino buildings badly damaged.
