Demanding government accommodation for Kejriwal, Raghav Chadha cited this rule

New Delhi : Aam Aadmi Party AAP has demanded government accommodation for outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The party says that Kejriwal is now the convener of a national party, so he should get government accommodation. AAP Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha gave this information in a press conference today on Friday and said that the party will soon write a letter to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in this regard. He expressed hope that the ministry will provide government accommodation to Arvind Kejriwal in a day or two.

It is worth noting that Kejriwal recently resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi and he had said that he would leave his official residence within 15 days. Raghav Chadha said that being a national party, the Aam Aadmi Party has the right to two major resources—an office to work in Delhi and a government residence for its chief.

He also informed that AAP got the status of a national party after the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections. After two years of legal battle and court intervention, the central government gave an office to the Aam Aadmi Party. The party recently vacated its old office located near ITO and is now working from the new office located near Mandi House.

Raghav Chadha urged the central government to provide government accommodation to Arvind Kejriwal without any delay and political issues, as it is his and the party's right. He said that the AAP national secretary is writing a letter to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on this issue and hopes that Kejriwal will get housing soon. Chadha also said that he wants the matter not to go to court and be resolved without any legal battle. According to the party, Arvind Kejriwal does not have any property or house of his own. Chadha said that as the head of a national party, Kejriwal is entitled to government accommodation, and the central government should provide him this facility.
