5 years, 15 centuries and 2949 runs… Joe Root is a few steps away from leaving Tendulkar behind.
Delhi: England men's cricket team is going to play 22 test matches in the next 26 months. However, if you are a fan of Mumbai-born cricket god Sachin Tendulkar, then this schedule of 22 Test matches may be a bit worrying. This glut of Test matches is a golden opportunity for England's leading batsman Joe Root. At present, Root is moving fast towards breaking some big records of Sachin Tendulkar.

A look at Joe Root's record
Joe Root has performed brilliantly in Test cricket in the last few years. Since January 1, 2020, Root has scored 5,690 runs, which is 2,597 runs more than second-placed Marnus Labuschagne.
33-year-old Root has so far scored 12972 runs in Test cricket, which places him fifth in the all-time leading Test run scorer list. Considering Root's fitness and injury prevention, it can be assumed that he can easily play for five more years.
If Root maintains his current average (50.87), he will need about 60 innings to break Sachin Tendulkar's record of 15,921 Test runs.
The record of centuries is also in danger
Due to Root's brilliant performance, Sachin Tendulkar's record of most centuries (51) in Test cricket is also in danger. In the last four years, Root has doubled his number of centuries. If he scores three centuries every year in the next five years, he can break Sachin's record.
England's upcoming test schedule
England have a very busy Test schedule in the coming times:

Will Sachin's record be broken?
