Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva reached India, welcomed by PM Modi and the President

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva addressed a joint press conference in the country’s capital. Three MoUs were signed between the two governments. Joint Declaration MoU on Digital Partnership for the Future, MoU on Cooperation in the Sectors of Rare Earth and Essential Minerals and MoU on Cooperation in the Sector of Mining in Steel Supply Chain. President Lula da Silva expressed his happiness in coming to the country and said that my dear friend Modi, it is a pleasure for me to return to this country for the sixth time. This meeting between India and Brazil is very good. We are not just the two largest democracies in the Global South. It is the meeting of a digital superpower and a renewable energy superpower.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that we are both very different countries and hubs of cultural industry and we both defend multilateralism and peace. He said that this shows that coordination and mutual trust binds us together. A few months ago I had the opportunity to host my friend Modi in Brasília. His visit was a milestone. On that occasion we redrafted the agenda of mutual cooperation in five areas. We signed several agreements that give concrete quality to our cooperation in these areas. President Lula emphasized that the voices of India and Brazil are very important in the changing geopolitics. In a turbulent global scenario our countries need to strengthen and deepen our strategic dialogue.

India and Brazil are important voices at the UN, WTO and G20, partnering in building a multilateral regime that is more just, peaceful and governed by international law. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at Hyderabad House in the national capital.
