Akash Minda, Executive Director of Minda Corporation Limited, has become the first customer of this car and has purchased the first unit of the car through auction. The first Mahindra Thar Rocks with number plate 001 has been delivered to Akash Minda from the Mahindra dealership in Delhi.

Akash Minda has bought the first unit of Mahindra Thar Rocks through auction for Rs 1.31 crore. In 2020, Akash Minda also bought the 3-door model of Thar in an auction. At that time also he was given number plate 001 for this car. Hence, Akash has become the first customer of Thar twice in a row.

What's really special about this first unit of the Mahindra Thar Rocks?

The first unit of the Thar Rocks is the fully loaded AX7 L automatic 4X4 diesel model. This unit has many luxury amenities. This includes level-2 ADAS system, premium Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated seats, etc. An important feature is that this car has a special badge of the first unit. In which the number '01' is written along with the signature of company chief Anand Mahindra.

Bids from Rs 25 lakh to more than Rs 1 crore

The first unit of Mahindra Thar Rocks was auctioned on September 15 and 16, with the starting price of the car being set at Rs 25 lakh. But in just 24 hours this bid increased to more than Rs 1 crore. The auction event received over 10,980 entries, almost double the previous Thar 3-door model auction.

Proceeds from the auction go to the foundation

The proceeds from the first Thar Rocks auction will be donated to the Nandi Foundation. This foundation is focusing on improving the lives of farmers and girls in India.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Engine Options

Mahindra Thar Rocks is available in two engine options which include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel. The car unit put up for auction is equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which generates 172bhp power and 370Nm torque. It includes a 6-speed automatic transmission and a low-range 4-wheel drive system. When booking started on October 3, huge interest was witnessed and 1.76 lakh units were booked in just one hour. This was a record booking.
