1 big good news for Shikshamitras in UP, tension gone!
Lucknow/Gorakhpur. Amidst the long standing demands for Shikshamitras in Uttar Pradesh, now a relief news has emerged. The state government has taken an important decision by increasing their honorarium, which is going to directly benefit lakhs of Shikshamitras.
New initiative starts from May 5
The initiative will be formally launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on May 5 in Gorakhpur. State level program will be organized in Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium, while parallel programs will be organized in other districts of the state also.
Will get honorarium of ₹ 18,000 per month
Under the government’s decision, about 1.43 lakh Shikshamitras working in council primary schools are now being given an honorarium of ₹ 18,000 per month. This new system has come into effect from 1 April 2026. These include 13,597 Shikshamitras of Basic Education Department, 1,29,332 Shikshamitras working under Samagra Shiksha.
Economic strength and morale will increase
The government believes that increasing the honorarium will improve the financial condition of Shikshamitras. Along with this, their confidence and enthusiasm towards work will also increase, which will directly impact the education system.
Education system will benefit
This initiative is not limited to financial assistance only. The government also aims to improve the quality of education in schools by creating better coordination between teachers and Shikshamitras.
