Lucknow: An important news has come out for electricity workers in Uttar Pradesh. Till now the electricity corporation officials and employees who used to get electricity at concessional rates, now they will have to pay electricity bill like ordinary citizens. The Energy Corporation has decided that by 31 March 2025, smart meters will be installed on the houses of all employees, so that the power consumption can be monitored and the correct billing process. This decision will eliminate special exemption to the current and retired officers and employees of the Electricity Department.

After the end of the concessions being given to the employees till now, the employees will also have to pay the electricity bill on the basis of their consumption like ordinary citizens. This decision has been taken with the aim of strengthening the financial condition of the Electricity Corporation and using resources correctly.
