1 dead, 3 injured… huge crane falls from 13th floor in Mumbai

A major accident took place on Thursday in Jaypee North Society located in Mira Road (East), Mumbai, Maharashtra. A huge crane being used for work in a building under construction suddenly fell down from the 13th floor. As soon as the crane fell, there was a huge explosion, which created chaos in the entire society and surrounding areas. According to initial information, one person has died in this accident, while three people are said to be injured. However, the number of injured has not yet been officially confirmed by the administration.

 

The victim has been identified as Muzammil Khokhar. The crane was engaged in construction work at the time of the accident. Then suddenly she lost her balance and fell straight into the society premises. Many cars and other vehicles parked below were hit by the crane, causing huge damage to them.

Fear of people trapped under debris

According to media reports, as soon as information about the incident was received, several teams of the fire department reached the spot and immediately started relief and rescue operations. Officials fear that one or more people may be trapped under the debris of the crane. For this reason, the rescue work is continuing with utmost caution. The rescue team is busy removing the debris with the help of modern equipment using heavy machines, so that if anyone is trapped, he can be rescued safely.

 

Police and officials of related departments have also reached the spot. An investigation has been started to find out the real reason for the crane collapse. Initially it is not clear whether the accident happened due to technical fault or there was any negligence in safety standards during the construction work. Officials have said that the cause of the accident will be revealed only after the investigation is completed.

The administration appealed to the people

The administration has appealed to the residents of the society and nearby people to stay away from the incident site, so that there is no hindrance in the relief and rescue operations. Officials say that a detailed account of the dead, injured and damage will be released after the operation is completed. At present, the rescue operation is going on continuously by keeping the entire area under security cordon.
