Iran is facing a double blow; After Israeli attack, security forces convoy attacked, 10 soldiers killed

Tehran: A convoy of Iranian police officers was attacked on Saturday in Iran's restive southern province of Sistan and Baluchistan. Initial reports said that at least 10 policemen have been killed in this attack. This attack took place in Gohar Kuh, about 1,200 kilometers i.e. about 745 miles south-east of Iran's capital Tehran.

Police officials said that at least 10 officers were killed in an attack on an Iranian police convoy on Saturday in the country's southern province of Sistan and Baluchistan. Officials also said that detailed information about the attack was still not available. But it was confirmed after some time.

Initially, the report only mentioned the attack by “miscreants” without any further details. But shortly afterward, Iranian state media confirmed that 10 officers had been killed. Halwash, an advocacy group for the Baluch people of Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan, posted photos and videos of a defaced truck painted with the green stripes used by Iranian police vehicles.

A photo shared by the Halawash group also showed the bodies of two police officers in the front seats of a truck. Halwash said the attack targeted two security forces vehicles and killed all occupants. No explosives were used in this attack. The country's Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni has ordered an investigation into this incident.
