10 killed, more than 20 injured in bus-pickup collision in Chhindwara
A tragic road accident came to light in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday evening, in which a bus full of people returning from a program organized in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met with an accident. According to the police, the accident occurred near Simaria on Nagpur Road, about 25 km from the district headquarters, when the bus collided with a pick-up vehicle. The collision was so strong that many people lost their lives on the spot.
There were 40 passengers in the bus
According to preliminary information, there were about 40 passengers in the bus. At least 10 people died in this horrific accident, including six men, three women and a child. Apart from this, more than 20 passengers have been injured. The injured were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals and the district hospital, where their treatment is ongoing. The condition of some injured is said to be serious.
As soon as information about the incident was received, the administration swung into action. Superintendent of Police (SP), Collector and other senior officers immediately reached the spot and started relief work. With the help of local people, the injured were taken out of the bus and taken to the hospital via ambulance. The situation is being constantly monitored by the administration.
Chief Minister Mohan expressed concern
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has expressed deep sorrow over this accident and described it as a very sad and heart-wrenching incident. He posted in Hindi on social media platform
Along with this, the Chief Minister has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. He also said that all the injured will be treated free of cost by the government. A control room has also been set up in Bhopal to monitor the situation.
The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to provide the best possible treatment to the injured. Also, orders have been given to send a team of specialist doctors from Jabalpur to Chhindwara and Nagpur. Minister in-charge of Chhindwara Rakesh Singh has also been instructed to change his schedule and reach the spot immediately.
