10 newly elected MPs took oath in Rajya Sabha, Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath of membership

New Delhi, Read. Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan on Thursday administered the oath of office and secrecy to 10 newly elected members of the Upper House. All the members representing their respective states and political parties took oath in a ceremony held in the main chamber of Rajya Sabha located in Parliament House.

New members arrived from many states

The members who took oath included four from Andhra Pradesh, two from Jharkhand and one each from Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha and Tamil Nadu. Senior officials and MPs of Rajya Sabha were present on this occasion.

From Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party (TDP)’s Sana Satish Babu, Vijay Chintakayala and Bhashyam Rama Krishna and Janasena Party (JSP)’s Lingamaneni Ramesh took oath. T. Tagak of BJP from Arunachal Pradesh, Rajesh Parmanand Shukla of BJP from Gujarat, Independent member from Jharkhand Parimal Nathwani and Baidyanath Ram of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) also took oath of membership. Apart from this, Debashish Samantrai of BJP from Odisha and Praveen Chakraborty of Congress from Tamil Nadu also took oath.

During the swearing in, five members took oath in Hindi. One member took oath in English, one in Tamil and three in Telugu. Due to this, the linguistic and cultural diversity of the House was also visible.

Union Minister was also present

During the swearing-in ceremony, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Rajya Sabha General Secretary P.C. Modi was also present. After taking the oath, all the new members completed the formal process of participating in the proceedings of the House. With their inclusion, the representation of the respective states and parties in the Rajya Sabha has become stronger.
