Vaishakh, the second month of Hindu calendar, has started from 3 April 2026. In Sanatan Dharma, this month is considered very sacred and virtuous. In the scriptures, Vaishakh month has been described as the best among all the months. Just as there is no alternative to Satyayuga, there is no scripture like the Vedas and there is no pilgrimage like Ganga, similarly there is no other month like Vaishakh month.

1. Beginning of Treta Yuga

According to religious beliefs, Treta Yuga started from the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month. This is the reason why this month is considered very important from historical and spiritual point of view.

Summer is at its peak in the month of Vaishakh. In such a situation, giving water to thirsty people, animals and birds is considered very virtuous. Installing a water tank on the roadside or arranging water is not only a service, but it is also a religious act.

3. Worship of Lord Vishnu i.e. Madhava

Worship of Lord Vishnu has special significance during this entire month. Lord Vishnu is worshiped in the form of “Madhava” in Vaishakh. Bathing in Ganga, offering Tulsi leaves and doing regular puja removes the troubles of life and increases happiness and prosperity.

4. The holy festival of Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Tritiya falling in the month of Vaishakh is considered very auspicious. This is called Abuj Muhurta, that is, any auspicious work can be done on this day without observing the Muhurta. This month is also considered best for receiving the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. During this time, reciting Shri Sukta and donating white goods strengthens the financial condition and brings happiness and prosperity in the house.

9. Resolution of Vaishakh Snan fast

In the month of Vaishakh, waking up before sunrise and taking bath and meditating on Lord Vishnu is called “Vaishakh Snan Vrat”. By observing this fast, both body and mind are purified and positive energy is transmitted.

10. Significance of Buddha Purnima

Buddha Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day of Vaishakh month. On this day, Gautam Buddha was born, attained enlightenment and attained Mahaparinirvana. Worshiping the Peepal tree on this day is also considered very auspicious. Which is also known as Peepal Purnima.
