What did the Union Railway Minister say about concern over passenger safety?

Earlier, the Union Railway Minister expressed concern over the safety of passengers over the recent incidents of stone pelting on trains. He assured that strict action will be taken against those involved in these incidents. The minister said, “The entire railway staff is fully aware and is in touch with the state governments, state DGPs and Home Secretaries. Strict action will be taken against anyone who will be involved in such incidents.” Vaishnaw stressed that there is constant cooperation with the state police forces to enhance railway security measures. Kavach is a significant achievement for railway security. Kavach 4.0 version was finalized by RDSO on July 16, 2024, and its first installation has been completed from Sawai Madhopur to Kota and Nagda.

What is the railway's shield?

Kavach is an indigenously developed ATP i.e. Automatic Train Protection System, which provides high level security to the railway engine. This ATP system helps the loco pilot when he fails to apply the brakes, and ensures that the train is running within the prescribed speed limit. Along with this, it helps in running the train safely even during bad weather. Let us tell you that the new version of Kavach 4.0 has recently been approved by the Research Design and Standards Organization i.e. RDSO.
