10 Upcoming Cars From MG And JSW Motors In India

2026 is the year in which JSW Group, that currently owns a majority stake in MG Motor India and is getting ready to launch its own car brand JSW Motors, will be taking over the Indian passenger vehicle market. In total, the company has over 10 cars planned for launch. A majority of them will be making their debut this year, meanwhile some will be launched next year and after that. MG Motor India cars

MG Majestor

First off, let’s start with the cars in the pipeline of MG Motor India. The Majestor full-size premium ladder-frame SUV will be the first one to be launched in India. This SUV has also already been unveiled and its pricing will be announced in April, and deliveries will commence from May 2026. It is believed that the Majestor will be priced in the range of Rs 40-50 lakh. Powering it will be a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel making 215 PS and 478 Nm of torque.

MG Motor India is planning to become the first automaker in India to offer a plug-in hybrid SUV. For this, it will be bringing the Chinese automaker Wuling’s Starlight 560 as MG 520 in India. This SUV will boast a 1.5-litre petrol engine assisted by an electric motor and 20.5 kWh battery pack. Together, this powertrain will produce 197 bhp and 230 Nm of torque and will offer a pure electric range of 100 km. It is believed that the MG 520 will make its official debut by October 2026 with pricing in the range of Rs 15-25 lakh.

MG IM6 electric SUV

The third vehicle in the MG lineup, which will be sold via the MG Select dealerships, will be the IM6 electric SUV. This premium EV SUV will take on the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and the Kia EV6 GT in India and will be priced around Rs 60 lakh. As for the launch, it is expected to make its debut around the festive season of this year. It will be offered with a 100 kWh battery pack with RWD and AWD configurations. The former will offer a range of 555 km, meanwhile the latter will offer 505 km. The AWD version will also make an impressive 779 bhp and 802 Nm.

Next up in the lineup is the MG ZS EV replacement. The new electric SUV will be based on the SIGMA (Scalable Intelligent Green Modular Architecture). This platform will also be able to accommodate other powertrains such as ICE, strong, and plug-in hybrids. It is believed that MG could be offering the ZS EV replacement with 49 kWh and 64 kWh battery pack options offering a maximum range of 500 km. It could be making its debut by the end of this year or early 2027 and could be priced around Rs 15-25 lakh.

Based on the same SIGMA platform, MG is also gearing up to the launch of the ageing Astor in India. The new mid-size SUV is expected to offer a much more premium and modern design and will come loaded with a ton of creature comfort features. It is expected to be launched in India by 2027 and will be priced in the range of Rs 12-20 lakh.

MG Binguo EV based hatchback

In order to take on the Tata Tiago.ev, MG Motor India is working on the development of the Wuling Binguo EV hatchback-based electric car for India. This EV is expected to debut in India by the end of this year with a price in the range of Rs 8-11 lakh. Internationally, it is offered with 17.3 kWh, 31.9 kWh, and 37.9 kWh battery pack options. The maximum range offered is 410 km.

The second plug-in hybrid SUV in India will also be launched by JSW Group, but it will be sold via its new subsidiary JSW Motors. It will be based on the Jetour T2 plug-in hybrid SUV sold internationally and will be launched around Diwali of this year. This SUV will be brought in via the CKD route, and it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 20-30 lakh. This Land Rover Defender-inspired SUV will boast a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with two electric motors and a 26.7 kWh battery pack and make 375 bhp and 610 Nm of torque. On electric power alone, it will offer a range of 139 km.

Chery iCar V23

The first electric SUV from JSW Motors will be the Chery iCar V23. This SUV, which takes its design inspiration from the Ford Bronco and Land Rover Defender, will most likely be making its debut by 2027. It will be priced in the range of Rs 20-30 lakh and will be offered with two battery pack options. These will include 59.9 kWh and 81.7 kWh with a maximum range of 550 km. The base variant will be RWD, meanwhile the top-of-the-line variant could get an AWD dual motor setup.

Jaecoo J5 EV

Recently, the test mule of the Jaecoo J5 EV sold internationally was spotted testing on Indian roads with a full body camouflage. This SUV is expected to make its debut by 2027 and will be a rival to the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra.ev, and other mid-size EV SUVs. It is also expected to be offered with ICE, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Chery Tiggo 8

JSW Motors also recently filed a patent for its flagship SUV, the Chery Tiggo 8-based model. This SUV will most likely be making its debut in 2027 and will be priced in the range of Rs 25-30 lakh. This seven-seater SUV will rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, and others and will come equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine making 241 bhp and 390 Nm of torque.
