100 died in 7 days; Violence flares up again in Kurram district

Seven-day ceasefire imposed between Shia and Sunni communities, but clashes continue

Kurram. violence in Pakistan: Fierce fighting is taking place between Shia and Sunni communities in the Kurram district of Pakistan's restive north-west. At least 10 people died and 21 were injured here on Tuesday. 100 people have been killed in this conflict in the last 7 days. There is no sign of the conflict ending and the violent movement is increasing. Clashes broke out in Gojaghari, Matsanagar and Kunj areas.

Kurram District Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud took the initiative and signed an agreement between the two communities. A 10-day ceasefire was agreed upon. In the last week, 100 people have lost their lives and 180 have been injured. All security forces are deployed on the spot. Police and army personnel have also been deployed in Kurram district. Clashes broke out between Alizai and Bagan communities in Kurram district after 47 people were killed in an attack on a passenger bus in Parachnar. Clashes broke out between the two communities on Friday and Saturday and 37 people were killed in the violence. No one has yet taken responsibility for this attack.

A seven-day ceasefire was imposed between Shia and Sunni communities on Sunday after a meeting of local ruling parties and elders from both communities, but fighting continued. But later it escalated and the violence continues. There is shortage of medicines in hospitals of Kurram district. Roads have been closed after the violence in Parchanar (violence in Pakistan). Therefore the supply of medicines is less. Patients are facing difficulties for treatment. This incident took place in Kurram district of Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan.

Shia Muslims constitute 15 percent of the 24 crore population of Sunni-dominated Pakistan (violence in Pakistan). Although the two groups generally co-exist peacefully, tensions still persist, especially in Kurram. The current violence is linked to a land dispute. A few days ago, terrorists had opened fire on passenger vehicles carrying Shia Muslim civilians in Pakhtunkhwa. There has been tension for decades between Shia and Sunni Muslims over land disputes in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.
