New Delhi. The name of the new chief of the Indian Air Force has been finalized. Air Marshal Amarpreet Singh has been appointed as the next Chief of the Indian Air Force. The current Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhary is retiring on 30 September. Due to this, Amarpreet Singh has been given this new responsibility. Amarpreet Singh will take charge on 30 September itself. Amarpreet is currently holding the post of Deputy Chief of the Indian Air Force. During his career, he has held important responsibilities in many important positions.

Born on 27 October 1964, Air Marshal Amarpreet Singh joined the Indian Air Force in 1984. In February 2023, he took over as the Deputy Chief of the Air Force. Prior to this, he was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command. Singh has also served as Air Defense Commander in the South Western Air Command and Senior Air Staff Officer in the Eastern Air Command. For his distinguished services, Air Marshal Amarjeet Singh has also been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in the year 2019 and the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in the year 2023. Singh is also an experienced pilot, he has more than 5 thousand hours of flying experience. Not only this, he is also a qualified flight instructor and experimental test pilot.

Singh has a lot of experience flying both fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. He recently flew the Indian fighter jet Tejas at the age of 59. Air Marshal Amarpreet has also received training from the National Defense Academy Khadakvasla and Air Force Academy Dundigal. Apart from this, he has also received training from the National Defense College in New Delhi. Not only this, Singh has also studied at the Defense Service Staff College Wellington. Air Marshal Amarpreet Singh has been serving the country in the Air Force for the last 40 years.
