CCTV footage of Tala police station sent to Kolkata CFSL, CBI seeks custodial interrogation of the accused

New Delhi. The DVR and hard disk related to the CCTV footage of Tala police station have been sent to CFSL Kolkata so that its data can be extracted. The CBI informed the court that based on this data and report, further custodial interrogation of the accused is necessary. The investigating agency said that this report is expected in a day or two. Along with this, the mobile phones of the accused have also been sent to CFSL for data recovery, through which important evidence is likely to be found.

The CBI said that as per the order issued on September 20, the Director of CFSL, Kolkata was directed to send an expert to the court on September 23 to give information about the polygraph and narco test. However, due to the absence of the expert, this process could not be completed, due to which the hearing of this case has been scheduled on September 25 in the Sealdah court.

Police negligence exposed

Earlier too, the CBI had exposed the negligence of the Kolkata Police. The investigating agency had said that the clothes and other important items of the main accused Sanjay Roy were seized only two days after his arrest. According to the CBI, the police had unnecessarily delayed the process despite knowing that the accused's belongings could establish his role in the crime. Sanjay Roy was arrested on August 10 on the basis of CCTV footage. He was seen entering the crime scene at 4:03 am.

CBI took over the investigation

On August 14, the investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI on the instructions of the Kolkata High Court. Earlier, the Kolkata Police was investigating the case. During the CBI investigation, former principal Sandip Ghosh and Tala police station in-charge Abhijit Mandal were accused of destroying evidence and derailing the direction of the investigation. Both the officers have not cooperated in the investigation.

The CBI has alleged that there is a possibility of a larger criminal conspiracy between the main accused and the co-accused. Both have been questioned face to face on the basis of CCTV footage of Tala police station, crime scene and medical college.

Sandip Ghosh arrested for financial irregularities

On September 2, the CBI arrested Sandeep Ghosh in another case related to financial irregularities in the hospital. The investigating agency's lawyer told the court that there are indications of a big conspiracy behind this incident. Tala police station got information about the incident at 10 am, but the police officers reached the spot at 11 am and the FIR was registered at 11:30 pm. At the same time, on the day of the incident, the Tala police station in-charge had talked to Sandeep Ghosh several times, which is under investigation.

next hearing in court

The investigation of this case is being done under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Now on September 25, there will be a hearing in the Sealdah court, where the direction of further investigation will be decided.
