After the rape and murder of a doctor in RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, the case of murder has not yet calmed down but the case of rape of the wife of a senior IAS officer has gained momentum. IAS officers are posted in another state. His wife is a manager in a private company in Kolkata. The IAS officer's wife has alleged that she was raped on the night of 14 July 2024 and again in the early hours of 15 July. In this case the accused was granted bail by the trial court. Calcutta High Court canceled his bail. Besides, orders have also been given to the Kolkata Police Commissioner to investigate the misbehavior of the women police officers investigating the case. In this case, BJP has accused Mamata Banerjee's government and the police of destroying evidence to help the accused.

On the petition of the IAS officer's wife, Justice Rajarshi Bhardwaj of Calcutta High Court canceled the bail of the accused and ordered an inquiry into the misbehavior of the police officers. The victim's wife of the IAS officer has said in the petition that despite serious allegations, the Lake police station did not investigate the CCTV footage of the incident from 4 pm to 8 pm. He has also accused the police of not even conducting a medical examination and he himself had to undergo a medical examination in a government hospital. On this, Kolkata Police told the court that the IAS officer's wife had complained through WhatsApp. After which their video statements were taken. There was a difference between these statements. After this he was asked to complain in writing.

Champa Vishwas was the wife of a senior IAS officer from Bihar. She had accused the RJD leader's son of repeatedly gang-raping herself, her mother-in-law and her sister-in-law.
