Central government gave a big gift to central employees before Diwali, DA increased by 3%

New Delhi. Before Diwali, the Central Government has given a big gift to its employees by increasing Dearness Allowance (DA). After many state governments, now the Central Government has also approved 3% increase in dearness allowance for the employees working under it. This increase will be applicable from July 2023 and employees will also get three months' arrears along with October salary. This decision was approved in the Union Cabinet meeting held today in Delhi. At present the dearness allowance of central employees is 50%, which has now been increased by 3% to 53%. This increase will result in a substantial increase in the salary of the employees, which will help in balancing the rising inflation and cost of living.

Will get relief from inflation

Dearness Allowance (DA) is added to the salary and pension of employees to protect them from the effects of inflation. It is calculated on the basis of All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI), which measures the rate of inflation. With rising inflation, this allowance provides relief to the employees and brings stability in their salaries.

DA increases twice every year

The central government increases the dearness allowance of its employees twice every year, in January and July. It is usually announced in March and October. However, these increases are applicable only from January 1 and July 1, giving employees a few months of arrears. This time the dearness allowance applicable from July 2023 was announced on 18 October 2023. Employees will now get 3 months' arrears along with October salary, which will provide them financial relief during the festive season.
