This defamation case was filed by Medha Somaiya, wife of BJP leader and former MLA Kirit Somaiya. However, even before he went to jail, his sentence was stayed on the same day.

Sanjay Raut had accused Medha Somaiya of involvement in the Rs 100 crore toilet scam. Against these allegations, Medha had filed a defamation case of Rs 100 crore against Raut. Sanjay Raut had written in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana Online in April 2022 that Medha Somaiya, through her husband Kirit Somaiya, used her political powers to get the contract for the construction of toilets in Mumbai's Mira-Bhayander area for her NGO Yuva Pratishthan. Was. Through this contract, Medha Somaiya committed scam in the construction of toilets.

Kirit Somaiya's wife Medha is a professor of organic chemistry at Ruia College, Mumbai and also runs an NGO named Yuva Pratisthan. Raut had accused Medha's NGO of corruption. Was. Against these allegations, Medha had filed a defamation case of Rs 100 crore against Raut. Medha Somaiya had said that this is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of me and my husband.
