Accident at the site of Bullet Train Project, pillar structure collapsed, two workers died
New Delhi. A tragic accident took place at the site of Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train Project in Anand district of Gujarat. During the ongoing construction work near Mahi river, the structure of an under construction pillar collapsed, killing two of the laborers working there. Rescue operation was started immediately after the incident and police and fire brigade teams reached the spot.
Rescue operation continues
National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) said that three laborers were reported trapped in the accident. One of these laborers has been rescued safely and has been admitted to the hospital, while the bodies of two laborers have been recovered from the debris. A video of the incident has also surfaced in which the painful condition of the workers trapped under the debris is visible.

Construction of 12 bridges completed so far
A total of 20 river bridges are being constructed in Gujarat under the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train Project, out of which construction of 12 bridges has been completed so far. Recently a 120 meter long bridge was built on Kharera river in Navsari district, which is an important part of the project.
352 km project in Gujarat
Under the Bullet Train Project, 352 km of Gujarat and 156 km of Maharashtra are included. In this project, 12 stations will be built in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Mumbai and other places. After the completion of this project, the distance between Ahmedabad and Mumbai will be covered in just three hours, whereas currently it takes six to eight hours.
Official statement on the incident
NHSRCL expressed grief over the accident and said that the incident will be investigated and safety measures will be further tightened.
