No fresh incident of violence in Manipur, central government deployed 50 more company soldiers; State MLAs put forward some demands, No violence reported from Manipur center deploys 50 more companies of CAPF

Imphal. No fresh incident of violence has been reported from Manipur. The central government has decided to deploy 50 more companies of its security forces there. The largest number of these will be CRPF soldiers. 40,000 soldiers of central forces are already deployed in Manipur. Internet has been shut down in 7 districts to prevent violence in the state. Whereas, indefinite curfew has been imposed in Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching districts, east and west of Imphal, the capital of Manipur. The Central Government has already imposed Armed Forces Special Power Act i.e. AFSPA in many police station areas of Imphal East and West, Jiribam, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi.

Whereas, Manipur CM N. A meeting of state MLAs was held under the chairmanship of Biren Singh. In this, a proposal to remove AFSPA was passed. Also, the Central Government was requested to get some cases including the murder of 6 Hindu Meiteis investigated by NIA. NIA has also started investigation into some incidents of violence that took place in Manipur in the past. At the same time, the MLAs of Manipur have also demanded to declare Kuki organizations as terrorists. Kuki militants are accused of killing Meitei people. Kuki militants had attacked the refugee camp and CRPF in Jiribam on November 11. CRPF responded to this attack and killed 10 Kuki militants. After this, when the bodies of Meitei women and children were found, the fire of violence once again flared up in Manipur. The house of CM Biren Singh's son-in-law was burnt by the mob. Besides, the houses of many ministers and MLAs were also attacked.

Manipur is disturbed since 2023. The reason for this is a decision of Manipur High Court. The Manipur High Court had asked the state government to consider giving tribal status and reservation to the Hindu Meitei community. This was opposed by the Kuki community. After which violence started between Meitei and Kuki people. The Meitei community lives in the valley areas of Manipur. Whereas, Kuki people live in hilly areas. Meitei people are Hindus. At the same time, most of the Kukis believe in Christianity.
