Air pollution in Delhi is at serious level, central government changed office timings, know when to go to office.

New Delhi. The situation of air pollution in Delhi has become very serious. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi's air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 376 at 9 am on Thursday, which falls in the “severe” category. In view of this serious situation of pollution, the Central Government has decided to change the working timings of its employees.

Personnel Ministry issued orders

In the order issued by the Union Personnel Ministry, it has been said that in view of the increasing levels of air pollution, it has been advised to adopt different timings for the central government offices located in Delhi-NCR. This step has been taken with the aim of reducing pollution caused by vehicles and to provide relief to the employees.

Operation of work according to new time

According to the order, government offices will work in two shifts. First shift from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Second shift from 10 am to 6:30 pm. This provision will remain in force as long as pollution control measures under the fourth phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) are in place.

Vehicle pooling and public transportation suggestions

The order advised government employees to limit the use of private vehicles and use vehicle pooling or public transport. This step has been taken to reduce pollution emitted from vehicles.

Measures sought by employees

Earlier, the Central Secretariat Services Forum (CSS Forum) had written a letter to the Personnel Ministry demanding the option of work from home for employees, installation of air purifiers in offices and providing N95 masks to all employees. The Forum had said in its letter that poor air quality is having a negative impact on the productivity of employees. Many employees are facing problems like respiratory problems, eye irritation, fatigue and discomfort.
