New Delhi. Cyclonic storm Fengal is expected to reach near the coast of Puducherry by Saturday afternoon. Regarding this, administrative officials have advised the local people to stay in their homes. In view of security, it has been decided to keep all schools and colleges closed on Saturday. According to the India Meteorological Department, the wind speed can reach up to 90 km per hour during the cyclone. District Magistrate A. Kulothungan reviewed the situation by holding a meeting with officials of the Public Works Department (PWD), local administration, police and other departments.

high waves rising in the sea
Due to the impact of the cyclone, high waves have started rising on the beaches of Puducherry and Chennai. Scenes of heavy rain and waves can be seen in the video released by news agency ANI. The Meteorological Department says that the storm is likely to hit the coasts of Puducherry and Chennai by Saturday evening. Heavy rain continues in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin held a high-level meeting in the Secretariat to deal with the situation. State and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed for relief work in Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and Cuddalore districts.

Changes in flight schedules
Light to moderate rain is occurring over Chennai and adjoining districts like Chengalpet, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur. Due to heavy rains at some places, there is a problem of waterlogging and traffic jams on the roads. Traffic has been affected in many areas including OMR Road in Chennai. The schedule of flights has also been changed due to the cyclone. The administration has urged people to check flight status and guidelines before leaving home.
