What was Kargil war?
The Kargil war was fought between India and Pakistan in May–July 1999. Pakistan had intruded into Indian territory and captured the hills near the Line of Control (LoC). Its objective was to cut the Srinagar-Leh National Highway. The Indian Army started a campaign to expel the enemy in the inaccessible hilly areas under Operation Vijay. The Air Force launched Operation Safed Sagar and bombed enemy positions. The international community criticized Pakistan and considered it a violation of the Line of Control. Due to Tashi Namgyal's information and the bravery of the Indian Army, this war ended with India's victory in July 1999.
