Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh dies at the age of 92, breathed his last in Delhi AIIMS
New Delhi. Former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92. Dr. Singh, who was unwell for a long time, was admitted to Delhi AIIMS on Thursday evening after having trouble breathing. He breathed his last at around 10 pm. Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. As Finance Minister in 1991, he started economic liberalization in the country, which took the Indian economy to new heights.

Condoling the demise of Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The country is mourning the demise of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. Rising from an ordinary family, he became a renowned economist. He held various government positions, including Finance Minister, and left a strong mark on our economic policy over the years. His intervention in Parliament was also practical. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve the lives of the people.”

On the demise of the former Prime Minister, Congress leader Salman Khurshid said, “The country will always remember the contribution and dedication of Manmohan Singh ji.” BJP President JP Nadda also reached AIIMS and expressed condolences to the family. As soon as the news of Dr. Manmohan Singh's health deteriorating was received, senior Congress leaders started reaching AIIMS. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are also returning to Delhi from Karnataka. Priyanka Gandhi is already present in AIIMS.
