Annamalai has vowed yesterday that he will not wear shoes or slippers until the DMK government is removed from power in the state. Annamalai had also announced to flog herself as a protest against the DMK government in the rape case. Annamalai alleged that Chennai Police leaked the FIR in the rape case due to which the identity of the victim student became public. When Annamalai was flogging himself outside his house, other BJP leaders were holding placards against the DMK government. Were shouting slogans.
On the other hand, DMK has rejected BJP's allegations and said that accused Gnanashekaran has no connection with their party. DMK leaders said the opposition was deliberately politicizing the issue by exaggerating it. Former Governor Tamilisai Sundararajan also condemned the police action in this case and said that incidents of sexual crimes are increasing in the state and the attitude of the DMK government and the police is not appropriate at all. On the other hand, the National Commission for Women had also taken suo motu cognizance of this matter yesterday and had written a letter to the DGP of Tamil Nadu and had asked for action against those who revealed the identity of the victim student.
